INTERNATIONAL LATIN AND STANDARD

CHA CHA is a flirtatious, quick dance with specific hip movement, rhythm and figures. An excellent dance to get your heart pumping and your feet moving.  

SAMBA is an exciting dance with an addictive rhythm rooted in Brazil. This dance focuses on body isolation and personality. Once you begin the  Samba “bounce” action, you may not want to stop. 

RUMBA is arguably one of the most romantic and popular of the Latin dances. Rumba is a slow and sensuous dance that spots the lady’s long leg lines and Cuban motion. 

PASO DOBLE emphasizes character, passion, and intrigue. This Spanish style march dance was created to mimic a matador in a bullfight with the lady dancing as his cape. Paso is intense and invigorating making it an excellent dance for those looking to improve their stage presence and dramatic movement. 

JIVE is an excellent dance for those looking to “burn the floor.” With its  bounce, fast tempo, very shark foot kicks and “flicks,” its meant for competitive style dancing.

WALTZ is the best known of all the ballroom dances. It is slow and graceful with its rise and fall motion and 3/4 time music. An excellent dance for anyone looking to improve balance and posture.

TANGO is originally from Argentina. A passionate and dramatic dance, Tango is recognized by its staccato and unexpected movements of the feet and upper body. No other dance incorporates such drama and stylized poses.

VIENNESE WALTZ is a dashing and whimsical dance with its roots in  Austria. Dancers glide across the floor in an almost dream like way. Viennese Waltz is often associate with the music of Johann Strauss. 

FOX TROT is a dance for anyone who wants to feel like Fred        and Ginger, effortlessly gliding across the dance floor. Characterized by its smooth, walking-style figures, it is an excellent dance for anyone new to ballroom dance. 

QUICK STEP is exactly as the name suggests, quick with many steps. With its fast feet, chasses, skips, and hops, this dance is easily recognizable and the Big Band music is exhilarating. This dance is excellent for any dancer who wants to improve foot work, posture, balance, and frame.

Amer Style

AMERICAN STYLE RHYTHM AND SMOOTH

CHA CHA is a flirtatious, quick dance with specific hip movement, rhythm and figures. An excellent dance to get your heart pumping and your feet moving.  

RUMBA is arguably one of the most romantic and popular of the Latin dances. Rumba is a slow and sensuous dance that spots the lady’s long leg lines and Cuban motion. 

EAST COAST SWING is also known as Triple Step Swing due to the rhythm of the basic triple step pattern. This dance offers a lot of bounce and “swing” in the hips. East Coast Swing derived from the popular Lindy Hop and Jitterbug.      

BOLERO is similar to the International Style Rumba in that it is sultry and  romantic. This dance is a beautiful fusion of the Waltz-like rise and fall and Cuban motion. A challenging dance to learn but the results are stunning and elegant.  

MAMBO is a fast Latin dance with an emphasis on the second beat in the measure. Similar to Salsa, this dance challenges your rhythm, hip movement, and musicality. Mambo is an exhilarating dance that would be welcomed in any Salsa club.

Social Dances

SOCIAL DANCES

HUSTLE is the perfect dance for any event, wedding, or gala. This dance is very versatile but is often associated with the disco beat of the 1970s. The steps are quick but not very difficult making it the perfect dance for couple new to social dancing.

WEST COAST SWING is characterized by its “in the slot”, improvised style, danced to 4/4 time music. This dance is adaptable to virtually any style of music, especially pop.     

SALSA is a fun, quick, and flirtatious dance that is sure to kick up your heart rate. With its shaking, shimmying, and hip action, Salsa is an excellent Latin dance to help you get your feet wet.        

BACHATA is sultry and seductive, excellent for any couple looking to head out to the Salsa club. The basics of Bachata are relatively easy to learn; however, the hip movement, foot work, and signature “tap” accent can keep any dancer busy learning.

MERENGUE is one of the simplest of all the Latin social dances. With its “marching” steps, 8-count rhythm, and rib and hip movement, Merengue Is playful and a fun addition to the club-style Salsa dances.  

NIGHT CLUB 2-STEP is usually danced to medium-tempo pop songs or country ballads. It has an easy going style perfect for a wedding dance or reception dance.

OTHER STYLES

BALLET is a highly technical style of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology.  All ballet dancers learn the core technique that has been past down for generations. Any great dancer needs to learn the basics to build a strong foundation. Ballet is for anyone at any experience level. Join our Adult Ballet class anytime.       

RUSSIAN FOLK traditional Russian folk dance is as broad and diverse as the nation itself. While most identify traditional Russian dance with the stomping and knee bending characteristics of Eastern Slavic dance styles, many forget about the traditions of dance that originated from the Turkic, Uralic, Mongolic, and Caucasian peoples who are also native to Russia. 

CONTEMPORARY draws on both classical ballet and modern dance. Contemporary combines strong controlled legwork (ballet) with stresses on the torso (modern). It also incorporates floor work, contract/release, fall and recovery, and improvisation.   

FLAMENCO is known for its emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet. As with any dance form, many different styles of flamenco have developed.
